Job Title: Cultivation Manager
Responsibilities: The Farm Manager will be responsible for all farming operations on our two 30-acre farms. This includes providing overall leadership, supervising farm labor, monitoring crops to optimize plant health and yields, minimizing diseases and deficiencies, identifying and culling male plants, ensuring a successful harvest compliant with state and federal regulations, and directing drying and bucking activities. Farm Manager will report to the Director of Cultivation, and will coordinate post-harvest activities with the Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervising workers and volunteers with patience and respect
• Providing coaching, support, and direction to members of a work team
• Demonstrating high level of problem solving for agricultural issues, employee issues, capital improvements, and overall business improvements
• Keeping detailed accurate farming records
• Monitoring and scouting of pests and diseases
• Quickly reporting potential infestation, infection, or deficiencies to supervisor
• Implementing pest management strategies • Identifying and removing male and hermaphroditic plants
• Transplanting seedlings and clones
• Applying fertilizers to soils or via irrigation
• Installing and maintaining irrigation systems
• Maintaining farm infrastructure and landscape with the help of farm laborers
• Planning and directing production activities and establishing production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors
• Sanitizing equipment
• Supervising crop harvest, including mechanical and manual harvest
• Ensuring timely and effective drying of harvested crop
• Transporting harvested and dried material to storage and extraction facilities
• Preparing farm activity reports for evaluation by management
• Cooperating with North Carolina Department of Agriculture and other agency representatives for regulatory oversight
